McSally-sponsored monster tax cuts for the rich are a nightmare for Tucsonans

TUCSON, ARIZONA—

Tucson-based Indivisible Southern Arizona will don Halloween costumes outside Representative Martha McSally's office Wednesday afternoon from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m., in an effort to show how scary a proposed Republican tax plan is for Americans.

President Trump's proposed tax plan drastically slashes taxes for the top 1 percent of earners in the country, with households making more than $900,000 per year getting a whopping $200,000 average tax break.

But poor and middle-class Americans will see far more uneven benefits, studies show. The average, lowest-income taxpayer gets just a 0.2 percent tax break.

"Tucsonans' average incomes already lag behind the rest of the country," said Kristen Randall, lead organizer for Indivisible Southern Arizona. "Some of McSally's constituents could actually see their taxes increase, in order to help fund huge breaks for the wealthiest Americans."

"Who is McSally really representing?" Randall added.

Indivisible Southern Arizona consists of more than 3,000 citizens from Arizona congressional districts 1, 2 and 3 who are committed to resisting the radical portions of President Donald Trump's agenda.

The grassroots organization is part of a larger Indivisible movement comprised of more than 4,500 similar groups throughout the country. Local Indivisible chapters pressure their Congressional representatives to reject harmful policies proposed by president Trump.
